The Heart of Mountain Gorillas

A UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to over 450 mountain gorillas nearly half the world’s population.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park spans 331 km² of ancient montane rainforest in southwest Uganda. Its name “impenetrable” comes from its dense network of vines, shrubs, and trees. But within this wilderness lies one of Earth’s most profound wildlife encounters: sitting face to face with a mountain gorilla family.
